Things I want to crochet [or knit] this Autumn

Things I want to crochet [or knit] this Autumn

I will start with the same note as before.

These aren't all items I necessarily will make. They will sit in my head with me as I admire them and if I feel so moved, I may execute. I usually don't or don't need to though. I'm satisfied enough just to be appreciating them and sometimes sharing them, so that's what I'm doing here.

I'm just in the mood to appreciate, be inspired, and feel that little bit of tightness in my chest.

*Some of these may not be things I've seen. I'll do my best to combine images with written word to illustrate my point.

Cat Bonnet

I don't want these but the problem solver in my mind wants to design the perfect construction [perfect for me, of course]. I'm particularly intrigued by the construction of the bonnet in silver. I've found them on SSense so there are definitely enough pictures for me to get a good sense of the shapes.

Whether or not I make this will depend on how far up this idea moves in priority as the weeks progress. It'll stay in my mind either way. There are a few projects I have constructions mapped out for that have just sat in my mind for years.

Sequins

Now this I've already discussed for summer but I'd enjoy it in the fall as well. I'm particularly imagining sweaters of bulky weight yarns with sequins worked in for graphics. The effect of having a brooch, but different. Actually, as I say sequins, I realise a lot of the images in my head contain pearls, colourful ones, but either works.

I've not found any representations for this but there are few base images that cross my mind.

As I mentioned in the list of ideas for summer, really anything with holes or piercings would do. Sequins, pearls, discs, buttons, charms. Honestly, attach anything. Perhaps, just hang some jewellery from the neckline.

'Tis all for now.

I have returned.

I was preparing for another collection of ideas, but I couldn't help thinking of what else I'd like to crochet as I researched, so here we are.

Dots

This is actually a continuation of the last, but it's entirely its own [in some sense]. I was thinking of polka dots on bags and then I thought it'd be quite nice to crochet this using pearls. I haven't previously enjoyed polka dot colour-work in crochet, but I'd be interested in creating a similar impression with a more textured result.

Lace Scarf

There's only one image for this as well. I saw it and immediately wanted to figure out how to make it. I'm thinking I'll at least investigate the stitch, if nothing else.

Bode Scarf.

Another Scarf

This, to me, is completely different. I have made a granny stitch scarf before, but I distinctly like the weight and ply of this yarn. The vibrancy as well.

Cap

There's nothing special about this particular cap it just reminded I have wanted to make caps previously and when I do it'll like be in a similar colour to this one. This picture just happened to reignite a forgotten desire.

Lace

It's not exactly pictured here, but when I saw this dress, I thought of making a long sleeve shirt with a lace lower body. I haven't found any images that better illustrate this.

Colour

Plate by Kirthanaa.

From this, I want a sweater. The colours are generally nice and I imagine they'd make many wonderful things, but I'm thinking of a roll-neck or turtleneck in stripes with the mahogany-wine at the top, and then orange, green, or cream to follow. I imagine the two stripes immediately after the top section of equal height and then a final band covering the entire waist in the final colour.

Now that I think of it, the cream would also make a nice first colour.

Colour I like.

As I was making the second pattern, I wanted to make many more. I think any striping of these colours will be beautiful.

Bag

I don't currently desire a clutch, but I do really enjoy this patterning and colour-way. Bobble and popcorn clutches, purses, pouches, are fairly popular or have been in the past few years, but I think the colour palette here is what specifically appeals to me this time around.

Clutch from Nadia Dafri.

Sun Hat

Specifically with a short brim.

Dolce & Gabbana Archival Item.

Again, as I continued to build another collection, more desire to make arose in me so, here I am sharing more.

Stripes [& Gloves]

So, I saw this image:

And I would love to make both a pair of mittens and a pair of gloves in these stripes. Fingerless gloves came to mind first, but full gloves look nice as well.

A messenger bag

While this looks good in leather (and you could imitate this texture with waxed cotton, "leather" yarn, etc.), I'd quite like this in something woollen. Perhaps a bit heathered, a little marled, a little thick.

Scarves

[More scarves]. I realise now I make my distinctions off emotion, off feeling. Because why were the scarves above distinct, but these are not. Surely they are. Surely they could classify their own headings, but they don't. Somehow, they fall together. Anyway,

Scarves. Triangle scarves, neck scarves, all the scarves, etc. With the first of these two, the colourwork is beautiful, texture is interesting. With the second, I like the pompoms. The colour as well.

Yes, these are somehow the same emotionally for me. Very different pieces (beyond blurred visuals), very different constructions, very different needs, time commitments, but the same.

I don't know if I want to make these. They intrigue me, but I don't know if there's much else. I know I would wear them, but that't not quite the same as wanting to make it myself. I can't tell if they excite me that way, particularly.

*I think I'm titling some of these wrong. Perhaps if I'd called this section 'Neck Accessories with Flair' it'd make more sense why these two don't form their own categories.

Fur Caps

I've crocheted with faux fur before and I may want to do it again. Again, I can't tell if I want to do this or I'm just thrilled by the idea of it and the opportunity, of what could be produced. Sometimes just the intrigue of what can be done with crochet excites me and I need to tell that apart from actually wanting to create something.

It's because I know I can make something with this. But do I personally want to?

Ruffles, Collars, & Cuffs

These came to me all at once, so again, different but the same. Volume, white, extensions, elongation, warmth, tight, locked away. For the collar and cuff, something about 'sheath' also comes to mind.

Sequins, Pearls, & Jewels [Continued]

I saw these and was again reminded of my thought to incorporate pearls, jewels, and things. I quite like these. They're very beautiful.
