Joy
Can you imagine, a depression caused by joy, [how could comedians be depressed how could happy people be depressed,] a joy not reflected in anyone else, in the world around you, in a world around joy. A joy so isolated it’s snuffed out. Depressed by joy. Depressed because all you knew was joy and you could not find joy. No one else to share your joy. Alone in joy.
Depression or a longing for a world that loves joy
Go find your joy
They left to find their joy
They left to find a world that loves their joy
They left to find joy
They are joy
And the joy was snuffed out.
Because all the happy people went to find joy.
They went to find it in another world.
What a world you have left.
What’s left back.
You’re left with people who hate joy. Who snuffed it out. Who are threatened by it. Who don’t like joy. Who find it unfamiliar. You’re left with a world who talks about joy but only wants it when it’s gone. Otherwise, they’re far too busy to entertain joy. To keep up with joy. To have it around. Who needs joy. But they’ll want it when it’s gone. They’ll say they want it when it’s gone. There’s work to be done. They’ll say they wanted it when it’s gone. They’ll say they loved it when it’s gone. And then they’ll kill another one. They’ll always kill joy. And my, they’ll love it when it’s gone.
I heard about the idea, today, of towns in Alaska hiring women, any women, to do any job, because the town needs women, a birthing problem I suppose, they need any women to come. The town needs women, they don’t care how, they need women in this town. And I thought oh absolutely not, do not go to such a town, a town who needs women, sounds like a town without women, sounds like a town who does not care for women, sounds like a town who won’t know how to care for women, don’t go to that town. Sounds like a town that will have an infrastructure problem, that fundamentally lacks care for women, because there are no women in that town, do not go to that town. And how do you develop the infrastructure to care for a thing you’ve never had, for something so foreign to your town. How do you develop the ability to not snuff out that thing you’ve never had, to be able to care for and nourish that thing you’ve never had. It takes practice, I guess. A few deaths on your hands, but it takes practice, I guess. You can’t help but hurt this little thing you’ve never had. How do you develop the infrastructure to care for that joy you’ve never had, do not go to that town, a few deaths on their hands, it takes practice I guess, they are doing their best, they are trying to develop and care for this joy they’ve never had, they’ve got deaths on their hands, you will always want what you can’t have, and you cannot have it because you’ve still got its death on your hands, stop killing what you can’t have, just stop killing what you cannot have.
They want joy.
And they want it bad, oh, I know they do. Trust, I know they do, I believe them too.
They want it bad, trust, I know they do.
They want that joy.
I know they do.
Believe me, I do.
And they want women too.
