It'd be Nice to Crochet ... for Summer

Flowers

To adorn your hair. You could add flowers to threads or to bands to make them easier to wear, but either way, a flower would be lovely in your hair. Specifically the fine ones, the most intricate.

Sequins & Beads

Crocheting with sequins and beads and anything with holes produces beautiful results.

Shells & Stones

As seen above, shells are beautiful. If you are into collecting treasures, it could be nice to weave your beauties and craft into their own. You can wear them, hang them, or simply lay them out to be. As far as hanging, I was intrigued by the use of stones to keep down cloths in summer. A comment noted they may fly away with the clips. Perhaps you could tie yours on.

Laces & Flares

I just saw this image and thought it'd be interesting to replicate the effect with crochet. I don't know if I'll make a swatch, but it'd be rather simple. At minimum, these sorts of flares just need consistent unchanging strips interrupted by sections that grow with every round, creating the flare. The interesting part would be incorporating the lace and coming up with a way to replicate the effect of a sheer fabric paired with lace.

Bathing Suits & Costumes

I've never taken to bikinis despite their popularity, especially with crochet. I have designed them for skill-refining and out of simple interest, but as far as swimwear I'm partial to the other options. One piece bathing suits are always nice, but I also quite like shorts. A suit made with shorts or a skirt coud be quite nice and there'd be a lot of options for beautification and intricate design. Many of these images feature bikini tops (the popularity) but you can image other designs. Long shorts would also be nice, but with crochet, you want to be careful the weight in water. Same with any sleeves you may consider adding to a top. If you're making a top that covers the waist, consider using lace for that section and a mercerised cotton or something else that doesn't drag too heavily when wet.

Note, you can also crochet a second underwear layer for any of these. That may be particularly useful for loose shorts or a skirt.

Tents & Loose Cloths

I've long loved these and the only thing that's stopped me from making one is the commitment to such a large piece of fabric with fine yarn. I know I'll want to use a fingering weight yarn and my interest is in too many other projects to focus so much on this. These are quite easy. Just a tube with a large flare, an ever-increasing tent, or an oversized tube that splits at the top with thread feeding through for the gather.

The Moon

Oh, to crochet the moon.

Most anything that makes a simple sewing project can be crocheted. It may not always be practical, but it can be done.

With this simple moon, it's not such a bad idea. All of these shapes can be easily replicated. Most notable will be your yarn. It's probably best to go light for the inner layers and take something a bit heavier for the out.

Weaves

I crocheted some swatches of weave-like stitches but I've yet to share them. Maybe I'm waiting to use a more appropriate thread. Waxed cotton could be nice.

A Pouch

Fish are beautiful. Some of their features make for wonderfully intriguing pouches. Other lace works too.

More Shells

For incense, but not quite. I imagine keeping this on a dresser, a set of drawers, and filling it with anything aromatic to set the room. Like potpourri? But not quite. I imagine something more woody, more bark-like. Of course, anything you like is fine.

You could even just store jewels and other gems.

Simple Veils

I saw this image and thought it'd be nice to crochet. You could include pearls or not. Whichever.

Waistlines

Belts are always nice. They make for interesting accents, draw attention. This is quite similar to crocheting with sequins and beads.

Remember

As always, images are to inspire, to spark thought. They may not all contain crochet, but they propose what is possible. They help you recall.
